Sales Tax Petition Effort a Success on Many Fronts

Here is a statement from Andy Black about the sales tax petition effort:

On the news that we will not be reaching the required number of signatures to place the sales tax extension on the ballot: The Commissioners chose to implement this tax prior to receiving final recommendations from the CBC financial review and after only holding a few last minute public information sessions. Our team went out and literally talked to thousands of Hamilton County residents — we did far more when it came to listening to constituents than the Commissioners have ever attempted to accomplish. For that, I’m proud.

We generated a conversation that has posed a lot of critical questions for our county. Questions that we will continue to push until we get answers from the Commissioners. They have yet to explain why they implemented a $40 million tax when they are trying to fill a $20 million budget hole — where is the other $20 million going? We all deserve to know.

I want to thank the dozens of volunteers that dedicated their time to collecting signatures for this effort. You have done a great service to the County by weathering rain and cold to give the voters a voice. We did our duty by standing by our principles. Thank you!"

Andy Black Launches Campaign for Hamilton County Commissioner

On Thursday, Andy Black officially announced that he would be running as a Republican for Hamilton County Commissioner in 2020. With a background in public service and business, Andy is well positioned to serve the citizens of Hamilton County in a way that is severely lacking with the current Commissioners.

"We need fiscally responsible leadership in County government, not a consistent culture of tax increases and wasteful spending. Sometimes the right decisions are not easy. They aren't always pleasant. But they're necessary. I'm ready to make the tough choices for the good of the community," Andy Black said upon his announcement.

With unanimous control of County government, the Democrats have produced nothing but infighting, bickering, and missed opportunities. A voice of reason, Andy Black looks to restore good government practice to Hamilton County.
